Germany is a world leading producer of wind turbines and solar power technology. Its economy is the largest in Europe, and the fourth largest by nominal GDP in the world. The country’s major products are in engineering, metals and chemicals.
The former currency was the Deutsche Mark until 1999, when Germany replaced it with the euro at an exchange rate of one euro for 1.95 marks.
