The Republic of Cyprus has a population of 870,000 people, and it covers an area of 9,251 square kilometers. It is the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, and joined the European Union on May 1, 2004.

Cyprus is a prosperous country with a high-income economy and highly developed infrastructure. The tourism sector has been growing in recent years, and as a result, the property rental market has grown too.

The euro was introduced in 2008. Until then, Cyprus was using the lira.
