Denmark is populated by 5.5 million people on an area of 43, 098 square kilometers.

The country is having the world’s highest income equality, and according to an U.S. business magazine, it has the best business climate worldwide. In addition, for three consecutive years (2006-2008) surveys indicated that it was the happiest place in the world. Another survey in 2009 showed that Denmark was the second most peaceful country in the world, after New Zealand.

The country has the most flexible labor market in Europe, and it has sufficient sources of oil and natural gas. Through tax exemption, Danish families are encouraged to generate their own electricity by installating wind turbines. The government also encouraged the use of environmentally friendly cars.

Denmark joined the European Union on January 1, 1973, but it still uses its own currency—the krone. The euro, however, is planned to replace the crone in 2011.
