The Czech Republic occupies an area of 78,866 square kilometers with population of over 10,500,000 people.

The Republic joined the European Union on May 1, 2004, and is one of the most stable countries of the post-Communist states with a rapid economic growth over the past three years. The economy has been massively privatized–the energy industry and the Prague airport are also planned for privatization.

The country has also implemented the Schengen Agreement, which automatically opened the borders to its neighbours in 2007.

The government has discussed the euro adoption multiple times, and although the country fulfills all the criteria for it, it still uses its own currency—the Czech crown (CZK).
